| DiMarco, Hayley In 1996, Hayley Morgan was a young twentysomething working for a little shoe company called Nike in Portland, Oregon. After three years with the "Swoosh", Hayley got fed up with the incessant rain of Portland and began to search for dryer ground. In October, she found just the spot--Nashville, Tennessee. She left Nike corporate to become the Manager of Promotions at Thomas Nelson Publishers. While at Nike, Hayley had been responsible for developing sales tools for their US and International sales forces, so her first project at Thomas Nelson was to do the same--promote a new teen Bible at retail. After a successful promotion, partnering with AudioAdrenaline and Forefront Records, the Extreme Teen Bible hit the charts running. In just two years the Bible sold a record 600,000 units and fathered an entire brand of teen products.
Hayley was made Brand Manager of Extreme for Jesus at its inception and brought 4 of the 7 publishers at Nelson together to eventually create over 30 teen titles. In just 3 years the brand went from a Bible to a $6 million dollar business. While at Nelson, Hayley authored, edited or had her hand in over 36 different titles.
Hayley DiMarco, best-selling author of Dateable, The Dateable Rules, and The Dirt on Breaking Up.
In 2002, Hayley left Nelson and created Hungry Planet, a think tank intent on feeding the world’s appetite for truth through authors and speakers taking on biblical issues with a distinctly modern voice.
Hayley’s goal is to take the dork factor out of Christian publishing and thus, attract the attention, minds, and hearts of the post-modern audience that has been taken over by the likes of Viacom and AOL Time/Warner. Through the use of extensive market research, focus groups, and on-line surveys as well as intercepts at malls, universities and bookstores, Hayley and her team create products that are relevant to post-moderns, attract their attention, and keep them coming back for more.
Dateable, Hayley’s first book published by Revell, landed on the CBA Youth Best-Seller list when it came out in August 2003. This book has been applauded for its unique design (which includes hand written doodles covering the pages), and its relevant, hard-hitting content for non-Christian and seeker teens. The second book in the Dateable series, The Dateable Rules, teaches teens male and female roles and character lessons through bible study and group activities. The Rules debuted in February 2004 at #3 on the best-seller list. Revell is releasing five more titles from Hayley and Hungry Planet in the second half of 2004. Retailers have quickly learned to look for Hayley's name or the Hungry Planet logo for their core inventory for teens and twentysomethings.
This year her Dateable expertise (and of course prayers!) paid off, and she found the man of her dreams. Hayley Morgan became Hayley DiMarco on January 1. Yee ha! Both Hayley and her husband Michael now travel this hungry planet speaking on issues of faith in life. | | |
